Can You Wear Makeup After Milia Removal?
Yes, but wait 24 hours first. After milia removal, the micro-openings we create need about a day to close completely. Applying makeup too soon can trap bacteria in the healing spots and cause irritation, so give your skin that first day to settle.
Once 24 hours have passed, you can go back to your normal routine, including concealer and foundation, without any problem. If you had a large number of milia removed, give any lingering pink marks a little extra time; they typically fade within a few days.

What Exactly Are Milia?
Let’s clear this up.
Milia (singular: milium) are small, hard, white bumps caused by keratin the same protein that makes up your hair and nails getting trapped beneath your skin’s surface.
They’re incredibly common and can show up at any age, though they’re especially frequent in:
- Newborns (baby milia usually go away on their own)
- Adults after skin damage, sun exposure, or certain skincare products
- People using heavy creams or oils that clog pores
Where they appear:
- Under and around the eyes
- Cheeks and nose
- Forehead
- Sometimes on the chest or genitals
Milia are not whiteheads. They’re not pimples. They don’t have an opening to the skin’s surface, which is why squeezing them doesn’t work and can actually cause scarring or infection.
White Bumps on the Face That Are Not Milia
Not every small white bump is a milium, and the difference decides the treatment.
